Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos"
Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" opened on March 28th, 2001 and marked the onset of a new era for air transport in Greece. In fact, it changed radically the image of the Greek capital and quickly developed into the most important air-hub in Southern Europe.

Since the beginning of operations, the airport gained the trust of both passengers and airlines, while it soon earned a great number of key international awards.

Ten years after its initial opening, the "new" airport that serves the Greek capital is regarded as one of the best and safest airports in the world and continues its steady development thanks to the constant improvement of its performance.


It is located at Spata region, 33 km away from Athens city center, distance covered in about 45 minutes,  and 45 km from the port of Piraeus.

Transfer from and to Athens International Airport El. Venizelos:

Buses: There are 5 Express bus lines that depart from the designated area on the inner curb side of the arrivals level of the Main Terminal Building, exactly outside the Exit.
Bus Line X92 takes travellers to Kifissia (terminal station of electric traina, Line 1, "green" line)
Bus Line X94 takes travellers to Ethniki Amyna Metro Station (Line 3, "blue" line)
Bus Line X95 takes travellers to the city center and specifically Syntagma Square
Bus Line X96 takes travellers to the center of Piraeus and specifically Karaiskaki Square.
Bus Line X97 takes travellers to Dafni Metro Station (Line 2, "red line)

Metro - Suburban Railway "Proastiakos":
The Athens Metro is an underground rapid transit system serving the capital of Greece.  Proastiakos is a similar transit system that connects Athens with its eastern suburbs and the airport. Proastiakos is constructed in the middle of "Attiki Odos", a main road net. Athens International Airport is connected to Athens Central Railways Station (Larissis Station, Metro Line 2, "red" line) and the port of Piraeus via the Suburban Rail.

Taxi: The taxi queue is right outside the arrival level of AIA, next to door 3, but you can also make the necessary arrangements to book your taxi transfer before your arrival.
