Buses

Athens city has a wide network of buses leading to different areas of the town.

Moving by bus gives the visitors the chance to take a look of Athens by the bus windows. However, the traffic on most roads of the capital makes it a little bit difficult and time-consuming. Tourists prefer moving by Metro Railway which is underground but very fast and modern.

Tickets:
From 2009 and then, there's a standard ticket you need to buy in order to use all means of transport. It costs 1,40 euro and is valid for all routes within a period of 90 minutes.
There's a reduced fare for elders, minors and students.
Tickets should be validated on the special orange machines that are found inside the buses, unless you've already done this before boarding on another mean of transport.
