Trolley

Apart from the buses seen in Athens, there's also a fleet of electrically driven buses, called "trolleys".

In total, there are 25 trolley lines, covering a large part of mass transportation and uniting different areas of the city.

As it happens with the blue buses, also here, passengers have to face the traffic factor which makes moving by trolley a little bit time-consuming. If it's for close distances, people don't mind using trolleys, but when it comes to long routes, they prefer the Metro or the ISAP railway trains.

Tickets:
Ticket policy is the same from 2009 and then. You can use all means of public transport (Metro, ISAP railway, buses, tram, trolleys) with the united ticket of 1,40 euro, which is valid for routes within 90 minutes. There is a reduced fare of 0,70 euro for elderly, minors and students.
Passengers need to validate their ticket by inserting it in the special orange machines that are found inside the buses and trolleys, unless they have already done it previously on another mean of transport.
